HP Ultrium Universal Cleaning CartridgeLTO Ultrium cleaning tape is orange in colour signifying the HPE branded LTO Ultrium Universal cleaning cartridge. They will clean between 15 and 50 times depending on the drive and itqqq1s age, and cleanlines which is dependant on the quality, age and storage environment of the LTO tapes you are using. The cleaning process takes around 30 seconds. The HPE LTO cleaning tape cleans the heads which write and read the data, as well as other parts in the tape path of the drive. This cleaning process improves the performance of the drive and the quality and amount of the data backed up to the tape. As tape drives get older and out of spec, or the tapes get older the tape drive will require more cleaning and this cartridge will give a lesser number of cleans. Your drive is then becoming unreliable or the heads are failing and data written becomes poor and more difficult to read. This is a good time to call for service if you still have maintenance cover or consider replacing the tape drive.
